• EMDR is an 8 phase counselling treatment that considers all aspects of life experience

EMDR provides recovery and relief of simple and complexed trauma experiences

JUST NOTICE provides Accredited EMDR therapy as members of EMDRAA Australia.

    Why is Accredited so important?

It assures the Practitioner continues to learns through training to ensure the EMDR experience is tailored to the specific needs of the client as trauma processing is comprehensive and requires thorough treatment planning.

Regular supervision and case consultation is assured when taking part with an EMDR accredited practitioner.

At the beginning of the processing phase of EMDR you will be asked to bring into your conscious awareness all the components of the trauma memory network including the event/sensory stimuli, the emotional/physical memory and the personal meaning.

The therapist will commence BLS (bilateral stimulation) once the trauma memory is activated and this will occur through eye movements, butterfly hugs, tapping, and/or with thera- tappers.

  • DBR offers a unique approach to trauma therapy by:

    - Recognizing the role of physiological shock

    - Focusing on the body's innate healing capacity

    - Providing a safe and effective way to process trauma

Key aspects of DBR:  Targeting the Body's Shock Response: DBR recognizes that trauma can be stored in the body as a physiological response, distinct from the emotional experience. It focuses on processing this "shock" response, often targeting sensations in the head and neck.

    - Tracking Physiological Responses

    - Emphasis on Safety and Gentle Processing

    - Addressing Attachment Trauma

Beyond Emotional Recalling: DBR doesn't necessarily require full recall of the traumatic event, making it accessible for processing even pre-verbal or pre-affective trauma

Neuroscience-Based: DBR is grounded in the understanding of how the brain processes traumatic memories, specifically focusing on the midbrain and brainstem regions involved in the initial shock response

Just Notice Practitioners are trained in Level 1 and Level 2  DBR.

  • Imagery Rescripting is an effective trauma treatment without the need for prolonged exposure to traumatic experiences within the therapeutic process.

Imagery Rescripting is an experiential therapeutic technique that uses imagery and imagination to work upon traumatic memories.

The process is guided by the psychotherapist who will work with you to define ways to work with traumatic memories, images, or nightmares.

Imagery Rescripting helps to redefine and create new neural networks which work to alleviate the symptoms of PTSD and trauma. Within an Imagery Rescripting session, the therapist guide’s you  to revisit the memory you are working with. At a key point in the memory, either yourself or the therapist will intervene in the image/memory.

The intervention may involve regaining control over the event, creating new outcomes, or re-establishing power over the narrative of the event. The aim is to connect you with unmet core needs resulting from the memory/experience. Imagery Rescripting has been shown to be most effective in the treatment of PTSD resulting from childhood traumas

It is an experiential technique that involves actively working with mental images rather than simply talking about what happened. Imagery Rescripting works directly with causes of trauma to restructure systems of implicational meaning that perpetuate symptoms of PTSD, trigger emotional distress, and cause maladaptive behaviours. When Imagery Rescripting successfully changes the core meaning of traumatic memories, new neural pathways are created which facilitate changes in negative schemas, core belief systems, and behaviours.

JUST NOTICE practitioners are trained in Imagery Rescripting.

  • Interoception: Connecting Mind & Body

Interoception is the noticing of body sensations that link us to our internal state — it's the foundation of the mind-body connection.

    What Is Interoception?

Interoception is our ability to sense internal body signals — messages from our heart, lungs, stomach, bladder, mouth, and other internal systems. These messages inform us about our physical and emotional needs.

    Why Is Interoception Important?

    Interoception enables us to:

    Connect physical sensations to emotions

    Develop self-awareness

Support mental health and overall wellbeing

Recognise internal cues and respond appropriately to our needs

Maintain homeostasis – a balanced internal state

Interoception plays a crucial role in self-regulation, decision-making, and emotional balance.

    Interoception & Neurodivergence

Many neurodivergent individuals experience dysregulated interoceptive awareness, meaning:

They may under- or over-notice internal sensations (hyposensitivity or hypersensitivity)

Physical and emotional states may go unnoticed or unrecognized

Systemic trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, eating disorders, addiction, and somatic disorders can all impact interoception

    Can we repair Interoception?

Yes! Interoceptive awareness can be developed over time. Whether you are hyposensitive (difficulty feeling body/emotional signals) or hypersensitive (intensely aware of these signals), support is available.

    JUST NOTICE: Supporting Interoception

JUST NOTICE practitioners use Kelly Mahler’s Interoception Curriculum – a step-by-step, evidence-informed program designed to gently guide individuals in reconnecting with their internal sensations and fostering mind-body awareness.
